Correct sizing of the system is paramount to trouble-free operation and the lowest heating bills. Our professionally trained system partners can help you to plan your heat pump heating system, whether for a new build or refurbishment project.
The individual circumstances are analysed in detail and your wishes are taken into account in order to determine which type of heat pump is perfect for you.
Engineering information for your new build
Additional and unnecessary costs can easily be avoided by including a heat pump in the plans for your new build from the outset. By speaking with an OCHSNER system partner at an early stage, you will see just how straightforward it can be to get the perfect heat pump system designed, selected and installed.
Installing a heat pump in a new building increases building efficiency (energy performance certificate) and adds value to the system technology.
Effective use of surface heating systems
The larger the heating surface area for dissipating heat inside a room, the higher the ratio of radiant heat, the more even the dissipation of heat and the more comfortable we feel.
At a room temperature of just 20°C with underfloor or wall heating, we perceive the same degree of well-being as in a conventionally heated room at 22°C. This is not only pleasant and healthy, but also saves a huge amount on heating costs. Additional low temperature radiators are recommended for cooling with a heat pump.

Engineering information for heating system refurbishment
Air as a heat source is often ideal for heating system refurbishment. Unlike with water and brine, no labour-intensive tapping of the heat source (earthwork, drilling, digging, etc.) is necessary. It is possible in principle to combine a heat pump with existing radiators and effectively operate such a system.
Depending on the situation, you can either completely replace, or supplement, your existing boiler with a heat pump. In both cases, the savings are substantial. If you retain the existing boiler, this is then used only on the coldest days and works efficiently together, in symbiosis, with the heat pump.

Retrofitting with state-of-the-art OCHSNER air source heat pumps
OCHSNER was the first manufacturer to launch a complete range of heat pumps with flow temperatures of up to 65°C.
Bearing in mind that it is often impossible to use ground or water as a heat source when retrofitting a heat pump, OCHSNER has developed a range of products with air as the heat source, especially for heating system refurbishment. Thanks to new technology and a large evaporator (enabling efficient absorption of environmental energy even when outdoor temperatures are at their lowest), high coefficients of performance are achieved with outdoor air as well.
New benchmarks and world records have been set, as confirmed by external tests carried out at the Buchs heat pump test centre in Switzerland. Our system partners are happy to advise and support you in planning your heating system modernisation. Please feel free to contact us.
Engineering information for DHW heating
OCHSNER hot water heat pumps in the EUROPA series use air/exhaust air as the heat source. They achieve a DHW temperature of up to 65°C as standard in heat pump-only mode (Europa Mini up to 60°C).
Multifunctional appliances can be sited in any room Thanks to silent operation without generation of odours or soot.
The OCHSNER Europa Mini can be installed without any major effort and connected to a tank. This small and very affordable hot water heat pump can also be used as a split appliance anywhere.
The integral charging pump and plate heat exchanger ensure the required "charging" of the domestic hot water in the tank.
Advantages of Hot Water Preparation with an OCHSNER Heat Pump
There are good reasons to prepare hot water in your home with a multifunctional device like an OCHSNER Hot Water Heat Pump. Installation in new constructions is straightforward. Even if a hot water storage tank is already installed, which is otherwise heated by a boiler, a hot water heat pump can often be retrofitted in existing buildings.
Thanks to the powerful radial fan and the flow-optimized spiral housing, the multifunctional devices EUROPA from OCHSNER can connect air ducts over 10 m, which allows for a variety of additional benefits:
Additional function: Cooling and Dehumidifying
By extracting heat from the installation room, OCHSNER hot water heat pumps can cool and dry. The compact systems have a small footprint and can therefore also be installed in a storage, utility, or laundry drying room.
Preparing hot water with the multifunctional devices from OCHSNER also means lower operating costs. Compared to solar systems, as well as oil, gas, or pellet central heating, you reduce your costs and energy consumption by using heat pumps with domestic hot water storage. About 75% of the energy required to heat the hot water is sourced from the environment, with only about a quarter needed as electrical power.
Further reduction of your expenses is possible through the combination with a photovoltaic system. Additionally, attractive funding opportunities are often available to you – whether for heating renovation or the installation of a heat pump in new construction.
Other areas of application for the OCHSNER Europa Mini

Combination with Heating System
In use with an existing hot water storage tank of a conventional heating system, its operating time is reduced to the heating period – this saves energy and increases its lifespan.
- Installation in the boiler room
- Hot water preparation from room air
- Secondary benefit laundry drying in the installation room

For high hot water demand
Two or more Europa Minis in combination with an external hot water storage tank – for large quantities of hot water, for example in residential buildings with multiple parties, or for commercial use with high hot water demand (such as in hair salons).
- Installation in the washing or heating room
- Hot water preparation from room air
- Secondary use for laundry drying in the installation room
