OCHSNER direct evaporation!

Direct utilisation of geothermal energy

OCHSNER direct evaporation or direct extraction is a special feature of the horizontal collectors. This technology, only offered by few manufacturers, is considered the most efficient method of utilising the geothermal energy from horizontal collectors. OCHSNER has decades of experience with this high efficiency technology. This enables OCHSNER to achieve the lowest running costs and best heat yield of the popular geothermal collector systems currently available.

Product overview

4 - 20 kW
OCHSNER TERRA DX
With direct evaporation, the refrigerant circulates directly inside the horizontal collectors. This eliminates the stage involving heat transfer via the intermediate heat exchanger and brine circulating pump. OCHSNER therefore once again offers much more efficient direct evaporation than other ground-source heat pump systems. The double-walled, seamless tubes that OCHSNER uses for the horizontal collectors meet the highest safety standards.

OCHSNER direct evaporation!
No intermediate heat exchanger stage

With direct evaporation, no brine is used in the horizontal collectors, eliminating the stage involving heat transfer via the intermediate heat exchanger and brine circulating pump. Instead, the refrigerant circulates directly inside the horizontal collectors. OCHSNER therefore once again offers much more efficient direct evaporation than other ground-source heat pump systems. For safety reasons, OCHSNER always uses double-walled, seamless tubes for the horizontal collectors during this process. It is important to note that the installation of a direct evaporation system may, in some cases, be subject to notification or approval. Sizing should always be carried out by an experienced OCHSNER system partner.

Chlorine-free and ozone-neutral

To eliminate environmental risks, OCHSNER uses chlorine-free and ozone-neutral safety refrigerant in the refrigerant circuit during direct evaporation.

Replacement and renovation for existing systems

Only a small number of manufacturers offer high efficiency direct evaporation technology. Owners of existing direct evaporation heat pump systems therefore cannot always rely on the original manufacturer for maintenance or renovation work. In such cases, OCHSNER can help to find a solution on how to maintain or improve the system.

Your OCHSNER system partner will provide you options for servicing and maintenance of your direct evaporation heat pump.

Five questions about ground source heat pumps

The use of double-walled, seamless tubes makes it virtually impossible for any refrigerant to escape. If the refrigerant were to leak out in the event of an accident or system damage, it would evaporate immediately due to its low boiling point. This would not result in any significant environmental pollution and would not pose a risk to the soil or the groundwater.

OCHSNER direct evaporation systems are almost maintenance-free. Horizontal collectors and geothermal probes are very durable and robust and do not normally require any maintenance or servicing. An inspection of the whole system is recommended every couple of years.

The refrigerants routed through the collectors during direct evaporation evaporate at temperatures well below 0°C. This completely rules out any risk of freezing.

Notification of the installation of a direct evaporation system must be submitted to the relevant authority.

Natural, warm materials. Surface designs for indoor units

The silk matt and satin finish with the distinctive red stripe design gives the indoor unit of your Ochsner heat pump a pleasant look and feel. The integration of natural, warm materials into the top of your heat pump transforms it from a purely technical product into an attractive indoor fitting. You can choose from 6 designs.

Surface designs

  • Sample cards are available for the surface designs. For further information, contact your OCHSNER sales partner.
  • Due to the printing process, the surfaces depicted here may differ from the original surface finishes.

Attractive subsidies for heat pumps

Many different regional grants or indirect subsidies are available through housing construction and renovation schemes. Some energy providers offer financial support or special electricity tariffs.
