Hot water preparation

Hot water heat pumps & domestic hot water heat pumps

OCHSNER offers a wide range of heat pump solutions for hot water preparation independent of the heating system. The hot water or domestic hot water heat pumps use air from adjacent rooms such as basements, storage rooms or laundry drying rooms. Thanks to the relatively constant temperatures in these areas, OCHSNER hot water heat pumps work highly efficiently and reliably deliver water temperatures up to 65 °C depending on the model.

Hot water is part of living and should cost as little energy as possible

OCHSNER hot water heat pumps use the heat from ambient air and reliably turn it into domestic hot water. As a compact unit with integrated storage or as a split unit for existing external storage - the choice depends on the space and the system. Some models do even more: They dehumidify the room air and cool when needed.

Product overview Hot water heat pumps

OCHSNER EUROPA N
267 - 415 litres

The hot water heat pumps in the OCHSNER EUROPA N series are compact solutions for DHW heating with the natural refrigerant R290. With DHW temperatures of up to 65°C in heat pump-only mode, they ensure DHW hygiene and full protection against legionella even at low air temperatures. They also have a very small footprint thanks to the integral tank.

OCHSNER EUROPA MINI
357 - 373 litres

The hot water heat pumps in the OCHSNER EUROPA series are standalone solutions for DHW heating. With flow temperatures of up to 65°C in heat pump-only mode, they ensure DHW hygiene and full protection against legionella even at low air temperatures. The DHW is stored in an external tank.

The central heating is oversized for pure hot water preparation in summer. OCHSNER hot water heat pumps can be precisely adjusted to actual needs.

Save electricity in hot water production

OCHSNER hot water heat pumps use waste heat and provide hot water highly efficiently and with low electricity consumption through the thermodynamic process. OCHSNER technology thus makes a significant contribution to reducing energy costs and climate protection. OCHSNER hot water heat pumps prepare hot domestic water particularly energy-efficiently and climate-friendly.

Cooling & dehumidifying with heat pumps

Suitable installation locations for OCHSNER domestic hot water heat pumps are frost-free areas, for example heating or utility rooms, where waste heat from the heating system, washing machine, tumble dryer or cooling appliances occurs. Food or wine storage rooms are also well suited. The hot water heat pump extracts heat from the room air and moisture at the same time. In the cool, dry air, food keeps longer and laundry dries faster.

Flexibly installed. From heating room to commercial operation.

Every building is different. Therefore, OCHSNER hot water heat pumps can be adapted to different installation locations and system environments - from single-family homes to commercial operations with high hot water demand.

Combination with heating system

When used with an existing hot water storage tank of a conventional heating system, its operating time is reduced to the heating period - this saves energy and increases its lifespan.

  • Installation in heating room
  • Hot water preparation from room air
  • Additional benefit: laundry drying in installation room

Large hot water demand

Two or more Europa Minis in combination with an external hot water storage tank - for large hot water quantities, for example in residential buildings with multiple units, or for commercial use with high hot water demand (such as in hair salons).

  • Installation in laundry or heating room
  • Hot water preparation from room air
  • Additional benefit: laundry drying in installation room

Subsidies for hot water heat pumps

There are a variety of different regional subsidies or indirect funding through residential construction and home renovation programs. Some energy suppliers offer financial support or special electricity tariffs.

Simple installation & retrofitting

Hot water heat pumps from OCHSNER are plug-and-play ready and therefore very quick to install. Depending on the construction situation, there are models with integrated hot water storage or split units that use an external storage tank. Even as a replacement for older electric storage heaters, OCHSNER domestic hot water heat pumps are an investment that pays off through significantly lower energy consumption. OCHSNER hot water heat pumps can be combined with any other heating technology and are a very good alternative to solar thermal hot water preparation. Unlike solar thermal systems, OCHSNER domestic hot water heat pumps are not dependent on sunshine.

For new construction & old building renovation

OCHSNER hot water heat pumps are suitable for new construction as well as heating renovation or retrofitting in addition to existing heating systems. In new construction, they can be integrated into the building services from the beginning - space-saving, efficient and without fossil fuel dependency. During renovation, they replace outdated electric storage heaters or relieve an existing heating system without requiring major reconstruction. Plug-and-play ready and compatible with any common heating technology, retrofitting is completed in most cases within a few hours.

Simple installation & retrofitting

OCHSNER hot water heat pumps ensure protection against germs in drinking water in pure heat pump operation. Even at low indoor air temperatures, they achieve legionella-safe hot water temperatures of 60 °C for split units and 65 °C for compact units with integrated hot water storage. For short-term very high hot water consumption, a malfunction or the use of only little self-produced electricity from photovoltaics, OCHSNER domestic hot water heat pumps have an integrated electric heating element.

Hygienically perfect water

OCHSNER hot water heat pumps ensure hygienically perfect drinking hot water quality. The reliably high water temperatures prevent the growth of legionella and other germs - completely without additional treatment measures. This is particularly relevant in households with small children, elderly people or whenever hot water is not used for extended periods. The integrated electric heating element ensures that hygienically necessary temperatures are reached even when very high demand occurs at short notice.

The most frequently asked questions about hot water heat pumps

Yes, the technology operates autonomously. If the hot water preparation is to be separated from an existing heating system, only the drinking water connections need to be adjusted accordingly. Existing hot water storage tanks can often still be used.

OCHSNER Warmwasser-Wärmepumpen are virtually maintenance-free. A system check every few years is sufficient.

In most buildings, hot water is heated directly via the heating system in a hot water storage tank. However, many other households still use traditional boilers that heat the water electrically or with gas.

A Warmwasser-Wärmepumpe sensibly complements or even completely replaces the central hot water preparation. A heat pump for hot water is particularly sensible when waste heat can be utilized. The electricity demand can be reduced if the heat pump is installed in the boiler room or if the waste heat from a ventilation system is used.

The energy consumption of a Warmwasser-Wärmepumpe generally depends on the amount and temperature of the required hot water volume. If hot water is needed at a higher temperature, more electricity will be consumed to generate this amount of hot water.

Additionally, the electricity consumption of the Warmwasser-Wärmepumpe is determined by its efficiency. The efficiency, in turn, depends on the amount and temperature of the heat source (room air) as well as the hot water demand.

By using a photovoltaic system or solar thermal system for the electric heating of the hot water, you can save electricity – and thus also money.
