HEAT PUMPS

Retrofitting a heat pump

With oil prices currently running at $100 or more a barrel there has been a huge rise in demand for heat pump systems for retrofitting in existing buildings. More and more existing heating systems are being replaced because they are uneconomical or too environmentally polluting.

The explosive rise in fuel prices will send heating costs through the roof. Retrofitting a heat pump can help. With old boiler systems, in particular, it makes sense to convert to a heat pump rather than replace the boiler. There is no point in investing in obsolete technology, and that also applies to condensing technology. When renovating a system, too, you are tying yourself into oil, gas or pellets as the fuel for many years ahead. With a heat pump you are future-proof.
